This last semester at school has proven itself to be a bit monotonous thus far – I can’t shake the feeling that I’ve done all of this before and I’m itching to embark on adventures ahead. My weeks have started to follow a common timeline: I’ll get out of bed fifteen minutes after my 8 o’clock alarm goes off Monday through Friday, make breakfast, and start my busy days full of class, tutoring, and hitting the gym. The sun has often already set by the time I finish with my last class or tutoring appointment of the day, strictly limiting the amount of time I get to spend outside during the week. Fridays and Saturdays are usually my days to get outdoors or go for a drive (with the exception of last Thursday – with a high of seventy degrees, everyone in their right mind made it a point to get outside), leaving Sunday for grocery shopping, cleaning, and meal prep for the week.
I was so happy to wake up to a message from Leighanne last week – one of my oldest and best friends from my time in Boston tipped me off about her visiting Raleigh! It has been just about two years since I last saw her. Over the course of the weekend we visited the art museum, a favorite brunch spot, and one of my favorite speakeasies. We spent the entire time laughing and nerding out over technology and photography.
I am consistently inspired by Leighanne’s drive, her creativity, and the ease with which she picks up right where we left off. See you again soon, Ski!
