Last week I wrote about the fall semester, difficulties surrounding study abroad, and a few goals I have for the current semester and beyond. I am happy to report that my application to teach English abroad in Spain next year has been accepted! Now all I have to wait for is my assignment before I formally accept the position.
The first word that comes to mind when thinking about the first week of classes is COLD! In fact, I’m watching snow fall as I write this. The average temperature has hovered right around freezing for the past four days. Accustomed to the balmy temperature in Raleigh, I neglected to wear a coat to class for the first three days of the semester – shivering all the way home three days in a row has certainly taught me a lesson about bundling up 🥶
I am now finished with my first week’s worth of classes in my final semester. In addition to two business school capstones, I am taking an advanced finance class (in which I have already given a presentation) and two marketing classes. I also elected to take an additional graduate-level Spanish course even though my minor is already complete – I would hate to lose any proficiency by not practicing every day this semester. The class itself looks to be a bit challenging but I am excited to see how it helps me grow.
I’m also hoping to get out to the Blue Ridge Parkway sometime soon. It will not be available to me once I move out of the region and I would hate to regret not taking advantage of its proximity and beauty while I live here. Will update soon!
